DAINFERN COLLEGE: Deputy Principal: Foundation Phase

Dainfern College is an independent English-medium, co-educational school situated on Broadacres Drive, Dainfern. We seek to develop skills for life required to unlock unique personal potential and to nurture creative thinkers with the confidence to become leaders – through the provision of an innovative, relevant and quality education.

An exciting opportunity exists at Dainfern College Junior Preparatory School for an innovative, dynamic, visionary educationalist with a passion for children and education to support the strategic growth of the school and to be a part of the Prep Management Committee.

In addition to committing to some teaching in the phase, the successful candidate will be required to support the Principal in terms of:

  • The development, implementation and management of innovative strategies aimed at enhancing all areas of the curriculum: academic, sport, culture, service and leadership.
  • The management of areas of operation related to the Junior Preparatory School’s administration and organisation.
  • The ongoing motivation of staff, parents and pupils.

Minimum requirements include:

  • A relevant educational qualification and teaching experience.
  • An ability to promote high standards of management within the Foundation Phase.
  • A proven track record of innovation, commitment and professionalism.
  • A working knowledge of current curriculum trends as well as the CAPS document.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with a passion for education and children.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and inspire teaching staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound computer literacy skills and an understanding of IT innovation in the Foundation Phase.
  • An understanding of and an ability to manage budgets.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to administrate timetables and deal with organisational imperatives relevant to the Junior Preparatory School.
  • Registration with SACE.

The following would be an advantage:

  • An excellent track record of effective administrative abilities.
  • The ability to teach Afrikaans in the phase would be an advantage.
