PROATIA Statement

MANUAL PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 51 OF THE PROMOTION OF ACCESS TO INFORMATION ACT NO. 2 OF 2000 ("The Act") FOR DAINFERN COLLEGE

OVERVIEW
The Promotion of Access to Information Act gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the state or any private body that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights. The Act sets out the requisite procedures for any such requests for information. In terms of the Act, where a request for information is made, there is an obligation to provide the information, except where the Act expressly provides that the information may not be released. In that context, Section 9 of the Act recognises that access to information can be limited. The limitations relate, among other things, to the protection of privacy, commercial confidentiality, and effective, efficient and good governance.

Dainfern College (hereinafter referred to as "DC") was founded in 1997, and is divided into two broad educational sectors:

The Preparatory School: Grade 0 to Grade 7
The College: Grade 8 to Grade 12

The Board of Governors is responsible for the strategic planning of the College, in conjunction with the three Principals.

The College is headed by the College Exceutive committee, comprising the College Principal, the Principal of the Preparatory School and the Principal of the Junior Preparatory. they are responsible for the overall organisational management and leadership of the College on a daily basis.
