Musicians shine bright at the Music Festival

The Dainfern College Music Festival took place on 19 and 20 June 2017, giving every music student the opportunity to perform for an audience, in a non-competitive environment. But even though the environment was laid-back and relaxed, our Prep School musicians approached their performances like true professionals! Not only were they well-prepared but they played confidently and with pride.

The most played tune: 'Twinkle twinkle little star', said it all - our little stars shone brightly! Our little musicians played various instruments ranging from guitars, violins, the piano, drums, voices, flutes and even a cello.

The Grade 3 classes went head-to-head, in a Battle of the Marimbas. Each class played the same piece, and the winners - Grade 3B - were chosen to perform in assembly.

It was wonderful to see the progression of talent during the Senior Primary sessions. And the High School students brought a great variety of musical genre to the table. Some famous classics were played like Claire de Lune by Debussy as well as some funky Blues tunes. We could see the fruits of hard work that our High School students have put into their instruments since their introduction to music back in Prep School.

To end the festival we were lucky enough to share the music of our adult students (who were noticeably more nervous than our school students!).

This year's festival was a real celebration of music and its magic.
