Junior Prep InterHouse Sports Day 2018

The Junior Preparatory InterHouse Sports Day took place on 22 June on the College’s Main Oval and was well supported by parents and grandparents alike.

The JP pupils competed in 60m, 80m and 400m events.  The Junior Prep and College Sport staff were on hand to coordinate the races: placing was handled by Ms Staessen, Mrs Webb, Mrs Buys and Mrs Tychsen, and the scoring was coordinated by Mrs Norton and Mrs Worth.  Mrs Blackhurst, Junior Preparatory Principal, was the day’s announcer.

A few Senior Prep pupils joined the Junior Prep pupils in the stands to drum up even more spirit, singing war cries and cheering on their fellow pupils as they ran past on the track.

After the track events, the pupils took part in a few Fun Races: the Grade 1s rolled on mats to collect a beacon, the Grade 2s combined running with hurdles, and the Grade 3s alternated running and skipping.

Once the scores were tallied, Mrs Blackhurst was happy to announce that Kraken had won the Sports Day, with Phoenix and Griffin coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.  The trophy was awarded to Daniyl Govender and Christel Kararach.  The Spirit Trophy was awarded to Phoenix House, with Luke Hugo and Manaka Mamuremi collected the trophy.  Once the festivities were over, the children received some well-earned refreshments and went home to enjoy the Half-term break.

Congratulations to all the pupils who participated so enthusiastically in the Sports Day!

Dainfern College would like to thank Ms Staessen and Ms Shellard for organising the day and the support and teaching staff who assisted, as well as the parents and grandparents who supported.
