'The Sound' a big hit!

On Thursday, 8 March, the high school students gathered in the auditorium to find out who would win The Sound Music Competition. Many audition videos were sent through to the Music Department and the best 14 performances were chosen to be part of the finals.

The adjudicator for the evening was Tyler Meiring, who is a performer. recording artist and a guitar specialist from Mars Music. We had a mixture of solo and ensemble as well as acoustic and electric performances. Our MC’s Joshua and Vincent did a sterling job of entertaining and introducing the various artists.

At the end of the show, the adjudicator went to make his decision while audience members voted for their favourite item through a google from on the Dainfern College app. He said that his job was very difficult as all the items were so varied and of such a high standard.

Tri-Femme Fatale were awarded third place and a Mars Music voucher to the value of R500. Cameron Smit, Bandisa Mahlalela and Nokulunga Mdlalose performed Lady Marmalade.

In second place was the senior High School Marimba band who performed a composition by Mark Pettitt and won Mars Music vouchers to the value of R1000.

Finally, the winners were EDM who won a session in a recording studio as well as Mars Music vouchers to the value of R1500. Zane Mancer and Matthew Pretorius with their back up musicians performed a song that was produced and recorded by Zane himself.

We were very excited by the quality of items as well as the support from performers and supporters alike. Well done to everyone who made this event such a spectacular show.

Huge thanks to our generous sponsors Mars Music Fourways and Sennheiser!
