Photography at Dainfern College has developed in a number of areas. The Photography Club gets together each week during Cultural Hour on a Monday, from 14h30-15h30, so as not to interfere with sport. Learners are exposed to a number of presentations focusing on the history of photography, compositions and camera settings.

Learners conduct photographic scavenger hunts, create photo alphabets, macro photography, action photos, candid shots, landscape, movement and narrative images. Using the tools at their disposal learners are able to capture a variety of images and improve their photography. In addition basic editing features of the digital dark room are manipulated in a series of fun activities.

Learners can also accumulate service hours to the school by photographing school events and logging their hours. Learners need to accumulate a minimum of 10 hours a term of extramural Photography. Colours are awarded to learners who achieve in excess of 220 hours of service.
